Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

Who doesn’t enjoy a good flick every now and again? This one had everything needed to please my demographic including a cool soundtrack, Michael Cera, a video game theme, a hot chick with dyed hair and the coolest final boss I could imagine.

Welcome to “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” a movie that blends elements of playing video games with, well a movie.

Pilgrim finds his dream girl and in order to win her he must defeat her seven evil exes.

Those who know Cera know he doesn’t come off as the fighter type. In fact his quirky humor is almost as impressive as choreographed fight scenes that steal a page or two from “Mortal Kombat” and “Street Fighter.”

Add some RPG elements and bingo a hilarious movie catered to video game nerds.

It’s truly a dip into fantasy set in reality with laughs and actions. Just don’t approach the movie with any stigmas or you’ll probably walk away angry that you listened to me.

As per usual here’s the trailer.

SIDE NOTE OF IMPORTANCE: I am looking for some input or advice into some meaningful foreign movies or American films that capture the sense of auteur theory. Nothing on the level of this movie I just hyped up but some truly artistic films. Just a little something I’m working on.

  1. I would have to disagree with you. I am a HUGE gamer, old school and new and I could barely sit through the first 20 minutes of this movie, and I am not one who easily gives up on movies. It was so hard to even keep up with the storyline. Now a GREAT movie to see if you like superhero comedic films would be Defendor with Woody Harrelson and Kat Dennings, this is a lighthearted funny movie. Also Kick-ass was great! A lot of people didn’t like that one either, but it was a fabulous one :) ….
