MS-DOS turns 30

One of the earliest operating systems turns 30 today. Let’s hear it for MS-DOS, Microsoft Disk Operating System.

I’m not quite 30 yet, but I do remember booting some games up from the old DOS start-up screen on a dinosaur style Compaq with a monitor the size of Rhode Island. I’m positive it wasn’t the MS-DOS version 1.0.

My favorite was “Doom,” the more modern and sleeker alternative to “Wolfenstien 3D,” the game that popularized first-person shooters.

Anyone else out there enjoy a MS-DOS game?
