I along with my lady friend Jessica went to see “The Muppets” at a matinee this weekend and I walked out with a rekindled love for the group of quasi puppets now owned by Disney.
The movie employs several of the same things that people loved from the original series, like every character you could think of — and lots of cameos from current big name stars.
This movie would be enjoyable for viewers of all ages, as older Muppets fans might notice a few jokes written just for them.
For me all that was missing was the Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem song “Can You Picture That?”
Which I am now listening to — I guess that was included in the original from 1979.
Anyways I’ll wrap this up. There was enough of the Swedish Chef to satisfy my needs and enough Jason Segel singing and dancing as well (he also co-wrote the movie).
Aside from teenage vampires who sparkle “Muppets” was the second most popular movie for this extended holiday weekend grossing a total of $42 million.
As always here’s the trailer:
I also forgot to mention that there’s singing fruit.
