Hit Somebody (The Hockey Song)

On the heels of the biggest Minnesota Wild win of the season (yes I’m calling it) I figured it would be an appropriate time to blog about this song.

Warren Zevon and his friend Mitch Albom wrote this song and it was released on Zevon’s 2002 album, “My Ride’s Here” which he released just before he found out he had terminal mesothelioma.

Here’s a link to a youtube clip of the song. You can also find the song in the treasure trove of trade friendly music I posted earlier in a concert that should be called “A Night with Warren Zevon.”

Now this post could go in any number of directions but I’m sure I’ll post on Zevon and his brilliance again.

In any case I found out this week that Kevin Smith is making a movie based on this song. Smith who directed “Clerks,” “Mallrats,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Dogma,” and numerous other great films is a big fan of the New Jersey Devils. I can only presume he likes UND grad Zach Parise as well.

Look for the film in 2012, let’s hope it comes to Jamestown and our new six screen theater.
